OUR SWIMMY STORY

We (Emily and Magda) started Mor Swimmy back in early summer 2021 in the form of a pop-up shop in Penzance, Cornwall in the wake of the covid pandemic which had created a wonderful wild swim community here in Penzance.

Originally it was us printing our own t-shirts with positive and funny messages and motifs about wild swimming. As we introduced more swimwear to the range at our pop up later that summer in Jubilee Pool Penzance, it proved to be a hit! By the time we had our Christmas pop-up in '21/'22 we had started developing our own original swimwear–sourced from eco fabrics and yulex and made locally alongside our apparel & many other ranges; candles, jewellery, mugs, rugs, change mats, stickers, books, bags & tree decorations! You name it! all wild swimming themed. PLUS a cafe and gallery space. By Jan 2022 we'd totally broken ourselves :) we took a breather and when we opened in our shop on Morrab road, we had started upcycling vintage swimsuits. We had to leave the shop come September '22 as it came up for lease renewal.

I designed a new swimwear range which launched online in spring '23.

Sadly, Magda was able to give less and less time to the business, so has taken a step back, although she still contributes when she has the time. We remain online while the cost of having a retail space and staffing it remains out of our scope for now.

The ethos of the brand has remained the same throughout our journey; to share the fun of wild swimming and to empower women within our own swim community and further afield.I sea swim most days, and was recently behind fundraising and installing a swim pontoon in our local community. I love the positive messages I receive from customers about how our swimwear makes them feel. I feel blessed to have the support and encouragement of our 'MorMaids' who we swim with and repeatedly model our swimwear!

See you in the sea!
